Types of Zirconium
We offer the following Product introduce:
99.95% Purity Zirconium Wire
99.95% purity zirconium wire is a wire-shaped material made of zirconium element, which has the characteristics of high strength, corrosion resistance, high-temperature oxidation resistance, and excellent electrical conductivity. It is commonly used in fields such as medical equipment, nuclear industry, aerospace, chemical industry, electronics, and automobile manufacturing.
Pure Zirconium Sheet
Pure zirconium sheet is a thin sheet material made of zirconium metal with high purity, which has excellent chemical stability and mechanical properties and can withstand extremely high temperatures and pressure. It is widely used in aerospace, chemical industry, semiconductor, medical equipment, and other fields, such as manufacturing high-temperature corrosion-resistant equipment, nuclear reactor components, alumina electrolytic cells, electronic components, etc. The size and thickness of zirconium plate can be customized according to customer needs.

High Purity Zirconium Bar
High purity zirconium bar is a rod-shaped metal material made of zirconium elements. Zirconium is a rare metal with high corrosion resistance and mechanical strength, so it is widely used in industry. Zirconium rods are commonly used to make components in chemical equipment, nuclear reactors, and aerospace technology. These fields require materials with high strength, high temperature, and corrosion resistance, and zirconium metal bar just meets these requirements.
Zirconium Tube
Zirconium tube is a high-strength, corrosion-resistant, high-temperature-resistant metal tube made of high-purity zirconium metal. Zirconium has good chemical stability, mechanical properties, and thermal properties, and can be used in chemical reactors, ships, nuclear power plants, and other fields under high temperature and high-pressure environments. Its coefficient of thermal expansion is similar to that of stainless steel, allowing it to fit and coordinate with the surrounding stainless steel structure when used as tubing in nuclear reactor applications. Zirconium pipe is also widely used in medicine and dentistry to make medical devices such as oral implants and artificial bones.

Features of Zirconium
Strength and durability
Adding Zr to Al alloys in the amounts of 0.02-0.2wt% has been shown to increase the alloy's strength by around three times. In aerospace, Al-Zr alloys in fuselage panels and wing structures ensure they can withstand the stresses of flight.
Corrosion resistance
Because of their low thermal neutron capture cross-section and exceptional resistance to corrosion, zirconium alloys are commonly used as cladding for nuclear fuel rods. Ship hulls, propellers, offshore oil rigs, and rudders often contain zirconium to prolong lifespan and maintain structural integrity under relentlessly harsh conditions.
Thermal stability
Zr is especially effective at improving thermal resistance in aluminum alloys, which is why it's used in gas turbines, high-temperature fuel cells, diesel engines, and catalysts.

Zirconium - Fabrication and Heat Treatment
Machinability
Zirconium must be machined carefully as the zirconium powder and shavings are flammable. Hence, a flood cooling system, heavy feed and slow speeds are required. The metal also has a tendency to gall.
Forming
Zirconium is ductile and easily workable. However, proper lubricant must be used to prevent galling.
Welding
Gas tungsten arc welding method is best-suited for welding zirconium. Proper shielding is required for welding zirconium, which may otherwise result in weak and brittle welds.
Application of Zirconium
Materials fabricated from zirconium metal and ZrO2 are used in space vehicles where resistance to heat is needed.High temperature parts such as combustors, blades, and vanes in jet engines and stationary gas turbines are increasingly being protected by thin ceramic layers and/or paintable coatings, usually composed of a mixture of zirconia and yttria.
Zirconium's low neutron absorption and high thermal resistance make it indispensable for manufacturing nuclear fuel rods. Historically, up to 90% of global zirconium production has been consumed by the nuclear industry. This trend continues as the demand for nuclear energy rises worldwide. Cladding for nuclear reactor fuels consumes about 1% of the zirconium supply, mainly in the form of zircaloys. The desired properties of these alloys are a low neutron-capture cross-section and resistance to corrosion under normal service conditions.
Zirconium-bearing compounds are used in many biomedical applications, including dental implants and crowns, knee and hip replacements, middle-ear ossicular chain reconstruction, and other restorative and prosthetic devices.Zirconium binds urea, a property that has been utilized extensively to the benefit of patients with chronic kidney disease.

Precautions for use of Zirconium
Personal Precautions, Protective Equipment, and Emergency Procedures: Wear appropriate respiratory and protective equipment specified. Isolate spill area and provide ventilation. Avoid breathing dust or fume. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Eliminate all sources of ignition.
Methods and Materials for Containment and Cleaning Up: Avoid dust formation. Use only non-sparking tools and natural bristle brushes. Do not push powder for long distances across the floor. Keep in small piles away from each other. Place in non-sparking or anti-static containers. Do not use water for clean-up.
Environmental Precautions: Do not allow to enter drains or to be released to the environment.
Precautions for Safe Handling: Handle under dry protective gas such as argon if possible. Handle in an enclosed, controlled process. Avoid creating dust. Avoid breathing dust or fumes. Provide adequate ventilation if dusts are created. Use non-sparking tools. Protect from sources of ignition. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wash thoroughly before eating or smoking.
Conditions for Safe Storage: Store in a cool, dry area. Store material tightly sealed in properly labeled containers, preferably under argon. Store away from heat and ignition sources. Do not store together with strong oxidizing agents or acids.
